Jennifer Simon, LCSW, JD, is a licensed clinical social worker who received her Masters of Social Work at Smith College School for Social Work. She trained post-masters, and still practices, at Kaiser Permanente Oakland Adult Psychiatry. Her approach to therapy is eclectic and practical, drawing from her training in psychodynamic theory, mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), exposure and response prevention protocols, motivational interviewing, and brief, solution-focused therapy.

Psychotherapy is a second career for Ms. Simon. Before pursuing her MSW, she practiced corporate transactional law for five years after completing her Juris Doctorate at Harvard Law School. Prior to her legal career, however, she received a BA in psychology from Rice University. Ms. Simon chose to return to those roots and pursue a career in psychotherapy because she felt called to assist others with their emotional, psychological, and life challenges, rather than with their legal challenges!
Ms. Simon offers psychotherapy for individual adults and couples, with specific interest in and experience with:
- Corporate professionals
- Career transitions
- Assertiveness and healthy boundaries
- Brief, solution-focused therapy
- Relationship problems
- Alternative relationships (poly / kink / LGBTQ aware)
- Life transitions (including pre- and post-partum)
- Anxiety
- Hoarding
- Problem behaviors, impulsivity, emotion regulation
